Meredith Manning
painting I assemblage I ephemera

Meredith Manning, lives, writes and paints in Grass Valley, CA where her abstract and representational paintings and assemblage pieces are created using acrylics and mixed media plus found objects.
Her love of color, composition and brush technique are used to evoke unique places and moods that are at once familiar and unique. "My father was an engineer and a gifted painter and he would look at the same object throughout the day, noticing how the light changed the color, the texture--the atmosphere--from morning to evening. He really taught me how to see."
As an instructor in a San Francisco studio for artists with disabilities in the 90s, she learned the benefits of taking chances and letting "mistakes" reveal new ideas. A lifelong student herself, Meredith has augmented her passion with coursework at SF Art Institute and ASIF (Artists' Studio in the Foothills), continuing to incorporate new media while exploring ideas around our interior and exterior worlds.
